DIABLUMA SOUND 001
STEVE STARKS – “THE BURMA EP” RELEASE DATE: MAY 22, 2012
THE FIRST RELEASE FROM MOOMBAHTON INVENTOR DAVE NADA AND HIS PARTNER IN NADASTROM MATT NORDSTROM’S NEW LABEL, DIABLUMA SOUND
If there was anyone who should start a moombahton label, it’s Dave Nada. As the creator, who originally slowed down dutch house, tropical and UK funky records with dembow riddims to the 108 bpm range, there is no one more fitting to help steer this genre into new directions. Together with Matt Nordstrom, his partner in the production/dj duo Nadastrom, they give you Diabluma Sound: a guide towards looking at the genre in new ways.
The first release comes from none other than Steve Starks, a DC native… home (if there is one) of moombahton. Starks DJ’s regularly with his collective Nouveau Riche and maintains a residency at the now infamous U Street Music Hall. He has cranked out amazing tunes and remixes on T&A, Little Owl and Get Right Records – and we are proud to launch the label with his first full EP at the 108 range.
The middle eastern-styled riffs of the title track “Burma” will destroy any dancefloor. Nadastrom played this song nearly every night since receiving it to an unknowing crowd on The Mothership Tour supporting Skrillex… and not a single body could remain unmoved. “TTFBO” takes the dembow riddim and reworks it in new ways with wild snares and a fast-paced synth keeping you locked in. The closing song “Our Love” takes you out nicely with a smooth vocal and synth lead that only he can deliver making this a solid dance-floor-ready package that shines from opening sets to peak time moments to the after hours.
“This EP puts moombahton on an other level, new sound, new vibe. i’m just in love with it! Long Life to Diabluma Sound!” – BRODINSKI
