What is SHAM?
A party, a person, a feeling? All of the above? Out of humble beginnings as a house party series, SHAM has become a colloquialism(ex. She was all the way shammed out last night.), a term of endearment (ex. Yo that’s my number one Sham!), a party, and perhaps a movement.
Founded by a group of artistically minded native Washingtonians, local culture collective SHAM is fast becoming a homegrown favorite, creating and hosting multimedia art events which feature some of the District’s most innovative and cutting edge musicians, designers, artist, and creatives.
In addition, SHAM actively promotes entrepreneurship through their coordination of independent retail pop-ups with past participants selling everything from Men’s and Women’s vintage fashion and streetwear to artisanal cupcakes.
Whether it be through hosting, DJ booking, our in the street wheat-pasting/multi-media promotion or just our presence SHAM is quickly developing a reputation in DC as “party makers.”
